Lawn Boy history began in 1904 with Ole Evinrude, the designer of the outboard motor. Outboard Marine Comopany (OMC) was created in the following years as the business unit for Lawn Boy and other brands. Lawn Boy's most formidable competitor, The Toro Company acquired it from Outboard Marine Corporation in 1989. The Toro Company selectively expanded Lawn Boy distribution to the mass retailer market segments, namely Sears and Montgomery Ward. Later, Lawn Boy secured the lead in the market for walk power mower repurchase rates. 58% of Lawn Boy users were previous Lawn Boy owners.
Check your owner's manual for the proper gas-to-oil mixture. For almost all modern two-stroke engines, a 50-to-1 mixture is recommended. This leaner mixture is possible due to improvements in the quality of modern mix oil. That requires about 2 1/2 oz. of oil for every gallon of gasoline.
