The Snow Auger is the primary component in snow throwers. On a single-stage snow thrower, the auger pulls snow into the machine and directs it out to the discharge chute, whereas a two-stage snow thrower feeds the snow into a high-speed impeller before directing to a discharge chute. Augers, particularly in one-stage snow throwers, can be damaged from contacting the ground, and get chewed up over time.
