The Discharge Chute, or Chute Deflector, is used primarily on a lawn mower or snow thrower to funnel the grass or snow away from the area of operation. Usually made of hard plastic, and sometimes steel, the Discharge Chute is a very common repair part as it is often positioned in such a way that it comes into contact with tree roots or branches, flower bed walls or curbs, and other common yard obstacles. For some mowers, Discharge Chutes can be modified to enable the collection of grass clippings.
